A two-year-old child, rescued by the police, created a bizarre scene by refusing to leave his kidnapper. Despite being reunited with his parents, the toddler continued to hug his abductor.

According to Indian media, the incident took place in Jaipur where the child, named Prithvi, was recovered by the police after 14 months of abduction.

At the police station, Prithvi clung to his kidnapper while his parents anxiously waited to meet their son.

The 33-year-old suspect, identified as Tanuj Chahar, is from Agra and was formerly a head constable in the Reserve Police Lines in Aligarh. He had evaded capture for over a year by frequently changing his appearance and location.

Chahar had been living with the child as a monk in a hut near the Yamuna River in Vrindavan.

The police launched a special operation across various locations to apprehend him. On August 27, Chahar was arrested from his hiding place.

According to local police, Chahar had a relationship with Prithvi’s mother and wanted her to leave her home and live with him.

When she refused, he abducted her son in an attempt to coerce her into complying.

He held her son captive for more than a year. When the police tried to separate Prithvi from Chahar, the child clung tightly to his abductor, and both began crying.

The child’s cries echoed through the police station as officers forcibly separated them and handed Prithvi over to his mother.
