An American woman, who came to Pakistan to visit Chitral, fell in love with a Pakistani man and tied the knot with him.
According to reports, Anwar Ali, who owns a hotel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's mountainous region, got married to US tourist, Claire Stephen, in an intimate wedding ceremony.
A local news channel reported that the groom is a renowned polo player and also a poet of the Khowar language.
Talking to local media, Ali said that he met Stephen almost a year ago during the latter's stay at his hotel in Chitral.
This was the time when Ali and Stephen became friends and decided to get married.
The newly-wed groom said that his bride initially came to Pakistan for a few days, "but after their friendship blossomed into love Stephen extended her stay to 6 months".
Ali said that the Valima reception will be held at his home in the Booni area of Upper Chitral.
"I accepted Anwar as my husband because he is very simple," the bride said in an interview.
"I've visited the entire world but didn't find a beauty like Chitral," she added.
However, Stephen plans to move back to her country but "would spend most of her time in Chitral".
