'Coat to warr gaya': Lawyer's phone explodes in coat

In an unusual incident, a lawyer’s mobile phone exploded inside a pocket of his coat in an Islamabad court.
According to media reports, initially, the lawyer, Usman Khan Yousufzai, didn’t notice anything, but soon after he was alerted to smoke rising from a pocket of his coat, after which he swiftly threw it away.
The mobile phone was in his pocket when he felt the smoke rising.
The lawyer stated that he charged his mobile phone fully at night and took it out in the morning, adding that the device was not connected to any power bank at the time of the incident.
“Coat to warr gaya,” Usman Khan said jokingly, referring to the incident. Fortunately, he remained unhurt due to his prompt response.
Such incidents have been reported in the past as mobile phone explosions have claimed lives and caused injuries, raising awareness about the potential dangers associated with these devices.
A 27-year-old woman had suffered burn injuries when her cell phone battery exploded after three hours of continuous use.
She was listening to music when the explosion occurred, emphasising the potential risks associated with prolonged device usage and charging the device overnight.
