Muslim man converts to Hinduism to marry GF in India

A 34-year-old man from Basti, Uttar Pradesh, has converted from Islam to Hinduism in order to marry his girlfriend of a decade.

Saddam Hussain, who has adopted the name Shivshankar Soni, and his approximately 30-year-old girlfriend were wed on Sunday evening in a temple, adhering to Hindu traditions.

This event follows a police complaint filed by the woman three days prior, in which she accused Saddam and his family of rape, coercing her into an abortion, and making threats against her life.

In response to her allegations, the police initiated a case against Saddam and his family.

Nevertheless, after the couple's marriage, both Saddam and the woman asserted that their decision to marry was made voluntarily.

According to police reports, the couple had been in a relationship for ten years but encountered challenges due to their differing religious backgrounds. The woman had consistently urged Saddam to marry her, but his family had opposed the union because of their faith differences.

Despite the earlier allegations, both individuals have now expressed their desire to build a life together.

The police continue to investigate the matter, although both parties have reaffirmed their commitment to one another.
