A 36-year-old man, who is a resident of Hokkaido in Japan, has made headlines with his unconventional family dynamics.
Ryuta Watanabe has four wives and two girlfriends, with whom he shares a household and ambitions to father 54 children.
Currently, the man, his four wives, and two girlfriends share 10 children.
According to the South China Morning Post, the household chores, including cooking, cleaning, and childcare, are managed by the women.
Watanabe's monthly expense and lifestyle worth $6,000 are entirely supported by the salaries of his wives and girlfriends.
Three wives and two girlfriends reside with him, while the fourth wife lives in another home.
After being dumped by his girlfriend six years ago, Watanabe suffered from depression and lived on government assistance.
However, he decided to turn his life around and started searching for wives through social media platforms.
In a TV interview, Watanabe said that mutual love and equality are key to their harmonious relationships.
“I just love women. As long as we love each other equally, there won’t be any problems.”
His goal is to break Japan's record for the most children fathered by one man, currently held by Tokugawa Lenari, who had 53 children before passing away in 1841.
“I want to have 54 children so my name will go down in history."
Watanabe plans to have more weddings in order to fulfil his dream. "I’m still looking for new wives,” he said.
