A tourist in Sri Lanka narrowly escaped injury after falling from a train while attempting to take a selfie video.
The incident occurred on Saturday along the country’s coastal railway line, and the video has since gone viral on social media.
The tourist, a woman from China, was hanging out of the train carriage while holding onto the railings and filming herself when she was struck in the head by tree branches.
The sudden impact caused her to lose her grip, and she fell out of the train. The video shows her flailing her arms in panic as she tumbled from the carriage.
Witnesses report that after the train stopped at the next station, several fellow passengers returned to the scene to assist the woman.
Fortunately, she landed on a bush that broke her fall, preventing any serious injury. Local authorities confirmed that the woman did not sustain any harm from the fall.
The incident has sparked concern online, with many criticising the tourist for engaging in such a risky stunt for the sake of a social media video.
“She is lucky that it was only a bush,” one user commented, while others expressed disbelief over the lack of caution. Local police have since issued a reminder to train passengers to be aware of their surroundings and follow safety guidelines to prevent such accidents.
