A recent survey conducted by Ipsos-Pakistan found that only 35% of Pakistanis expected an improvement in the country's financial situation.
However, the figures have increased by 10 percent from last year's 25 percent.
Over 1,000 people across Pakistan participated in the first-quarter report of Ipsos Pakistan’s Consumer Confidence Survey. While 35% looked forward to better conditions in the next six months, the opinion poll marked a decline in disappointment, which fell from 49% to 35%.
However, the majority of Pakistanis remain deeply concerned about the country's direction with 88% expressing discontent, while only 12% showing satisfaction.
Those who saw no change in the country's financial outlook rose by 4 percent, reaching 30%. Overall concern about the current state of the economy remained unchanged since November 2023.
Last year, a substantial 60% of respondents believed that Pakistan’s economy is fragile. The number of people perceiving no change in the economic condition also rose slightly, from 35% to 36%.
On being asked, Will the country’s economy improve in the next 6 months or not? the number of Pakistanis expecting economic decline rose by 2%, compared to the last quarter. 43% indicated that the economy remains weak.
The proportion of Pakistanis expressing hope for improvement decreased by 6% to 27%, with participants reporting no change increased by 4% to 30%.
