A Rawalpindi court has granted approval for the medical examination of PTI founder Imran Khan and has permitted him to communicate with a designated individual via phone.

ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah acknowledged the petitions during the proceedings concerning the assault on the GHQ.

During this session, another individual, Shaheer Sikandar, was also formally charged, bringing the total number of individuals indicted in the case to 118.

Omar Ayub submitted a petition requesting access to the case records, while Ajmal Sabir and Malik Ansar sought acquittal from the charges.

The court has scheduled the next hearing to address arguments related to these three petitions.

Additionally, the prosecution has requested that the case be heard on a daily basis following January 13, a request that the court has granted.

The proceedings were subsequently adjourned until January 13.

In a related matter, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has designated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Umar Tanveer Butt as proclaimed offenders in connection with protests against the disqualification of PTI founder Imran Khan.

The session, overseen by ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, also initiated actions to classify former federal minister Amir Mahmood Kayani as a proclaimed offender.

During the hearing, PTI leaders Faisal Javed and Wasiq Qayyum were present, while the cases involving proclaimed offenders were separated from those of other accused individuals.

The court issued arrest warrants for several individuals who were absent and adjourned the hearing until January 15, instructing that arguments on the submitted petitions be presented at that time.

Senator Faisal Javed has filed a petition requesting the removal of terrorism-related charges from the case, which pertains to protests that occurred in 2022 following Imran Khan’s disqualification, and was registered at the I-9 Police Station in Islamabad.
