KCCI slams govt's decision to make tax return affidavit mandatory

President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Muhammad Jawed Bilwani has demanded that the FBR authorities  must suspend the affidavit requirement immediately until comprehensive consultations are placed and effective measures established. 

According to the sources, he severely criticised the reinstatement of the requirement to file an affidavit with sales tax returns.

He remarked that no consultation was made with the stakeholders to this effect and added that the business community is already tackling immense pressures.

The president opined that the obligation to file this affidavit is full of challenges and it is irrational to expect from individual taxpayers to resolve the issues which come under the domain of FBR. 

He added that FBR has comprehensive powers such as auditing, verification, and investigation to ensure tax compliance.
