Gold prices in Pakistan surged to a new all-time high on Monday, mirroring an increase in international markets.

The price of gold per tola rose by Rs1,500 to settle at Rs309,500, while the rate for 10 grams climbed by Rs1,286 to reach Rs265,346, according to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).

This follows a Rs1,000 increase recorded on Saturday when gold closed at Rs308,000 per tola.

In the international market, gold prices initially surged but later retreated as investors booked profits following recent record highs. Traders are now focusing on an upcoming U.S. inflation report, which could influence future price movements.

"Despite a risk-averse market sentiment, gold has faced profit-taking, limiting its upward momentum," Tim Waterer, chief market analyst at KCM Trade, told Reuters. He added that persistent trade uncertainties could push gold to new highs again this week.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to impose additional tariffs on imported goods, including lumber, forest products, cars, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals. These trade developments have fueled market volatility, impacting gold prices globally.

According to APGJSA, the international gold rate rose by $12 to reach $2,948 per ounce (including a $20 premium) on Monday.

Silver prices also experienced an uptick, gaining Rs15 to settle at Rs3,395 per tola.
