Pakistanis consumed tea worth $336 million in six months

The Pakistanis’ love for tea is growing each day as the country imported tea worth $336.423 million during the six months of the fiscal year, according to the data published by PBS.
As per PBS data, the cash-strapped country imported tea worth $318.798 million in July-December (2022-23).
Tea imports into the country during the period July-December (2023-24) increased by 9.12pc as compared to the imports of the same period of last year.
According to the statistic department, tea imports into the country was recorded at 139,751 tonnes as compared to the imports of 128,068 tonnes of the same period last year.
However, the tea imports, on a year-on-year basis, reduced by 16.80% to $58.869 million from last December’s $70.759 million.
The overall food imports into the country decreased by 19.48% during the first six months of the current fiscal year and were recorded at $3,957.188 billion against $4,914.278 billion last year.
