Petrol price jacked up by Rs4.13/litre in Pakistan

The outgoing caretaker government has increased the price of petrol by up to Rs4.13 per litre for the next fortnight.
According to a notification issued by the Finance Division, the petrol price has been jacked up to Rs279.75 per litre, a notification from the Finance Division read, which will remain in place till March 15.
While the rate of diesel is to remain unchanged for the next fifteen days.
Reportedly, the hike is a result of an increase in the commodity in the global market for over 15 days.
This was the third consecutive hike by the interim set-up and will be the last by them as an elected prime minister is all set to take office by the end of this week, marking an end to the longest-serving caretaker government.
In the last fortnight review on February 15, the interim government had increased the price of petrol and diesel by Rs2.73 and 8.73 per litre, respectively.
