Pakistani consumers may witness a significant reduction in fuel prices, with petrol rate expected to be slashed by Rs 13 and diesel by Rs 15 per litre from December 16.
Reports suggest that petrol prices might see a decline of Rs 13/litre, while diesel could witness a decrease of Rs 15/litre.
The drop in global oil prices has contributed to this potential relief for consumers, as the price of petrol per barrel dropped by $5.49 to $94.95, and diesel decreased by $5.13 to $100.05 in the international market.
Presently, the fuel prices in Pakistan stand at Rs 281.34 per litre for petrol and Rs 289.79 per litre for diesel.
The Kakar government is set to make a final decision on the revised prices on December 15, and if approved, the new prices will be implemented from December 16.
The fortnightly adjustment system in Pakistan ensures that consumers experience the impact of global oil price fluctuations regularly.
Experts emphasize that the value of the rupee against the dollar and international oil prices are pivotal factors influencing fuel prices in Pakistan. As the government closely monitors these variables, consumers are keenly anticipating the official announcement on December 15 to witness the extent of the impending relief at the gas stations across the country.
