SSGC starts collecting extra ‘geyser charges’ from Karachiites in bills

Bad news for already inflation-hit Karachiites as the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has begun collecting Conical Baffle charges from consumers.

According to the reports, the SSGC is sending additional bills of Rs2085 to Karachi residents.

The company has made Conical Baffle usage mandatory for gas users and outsourced its installation to another company.

Gulistan-e-Johar residents informed the media that they received extra bills despite not using gas geysers.

When contacted, SSGC explained that Conical Baffle reduces gas consumption by 25%. However, residents questioned the charges since gas load shedding at night has minimized geyser usage.

Consumers argued that they shouldn't pay charges if they don't use geysers.

SSGC replied that the installation company's contract requires payment regardless of geyser usage.

Karachi residents, already frustrated with extra electricity charges, now face additional fees from SSGC. Consumers appealed to political parties to raise their voices against this "extortion" and provide relief.
