Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was injured during a robbery attempt at his Bandra residence in Mumbai on the night of January 16.
The robbery was thwarted by Saif’s resistance, during which he was attacked with a knife, sustaining six injuries, two of which were deep.
One of the wounds was dangerously close to his spine. Following the incident, Saif was transported to a local hospital in a rickshaw instead of his private vehicle.
According to reports, Saif’s son, Taimur Ali Khan, helped transport him to the hospital with the assistance of the rickshaw driver, Bhajan Singh Rana.
In an interview with Indian media, Bhajan Singh Rana revealed that he was passing near Saif's apartment late at night when a woman flagged down his rickshaw.
She directed him to stop outside the apartment, where a man in blood-soaked clothes, accompanied by a child and another individual, boarded the rickshaw. Saif instructed him to drive to Lilavati Hospital. At that time, Bhajan did not recognize the actor.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Saif informed the staff of his identity. Doctors performed surgery to remove a 2.5-inch knife fragment lodged near his spine.
After six days of treatment, Saif was discharged from the hospital.
As a gesture of gratitude, Mumbai-based social worker Faheem Ansari rewarded Bhajan Singh Rana with ₹11,000.
The rickshaw driver expressed his pride and happiness at being able to assist Saif during such a critical moment, calling it an unforgettable experience.
