Minister of State for Health Mukhtar Bharath clarified that the ongoing HPV vaccination drive for schoolgirls is a national health initiative and not an “external agenda.” Speaking to the media during the nationwide campaign, he stressed that the vaccine has been approved after consultation with scholars and contains nothing haram.

Calling cancer a “silent killer” often detected at later stages, Bharath highlighted the importance of prevention through vaccination. He noted that 48 percent of the target has been achieved in Punjab and 60 percent in Sindh. The minister urged parents to support the campaign, dismissing anti-vaccine propaganda as baseless and without scientific evidence.

Minister of State for Health Mukhtar Bharath expressed gratitude to international partners, noting that the HPV vaccination drive will not only save countless lives but also ease the financial burden of treatment for families.

He urged citizens, particularly the educated class, to actively support the campaign, stressing that the vaccine has been introduced after consultations with scholars and contains nothing forbidden.

He further emphasised that there is no scientific basis behind the anti-vaccine narrative.

Bharath warned that without a healthy population, national progress is impossible, adding that the global community is working to counter the anti-vaccination mindset.

He pointed out that all Muslim countries are advancing this initiative and said comparisons should be drawn with them, not with Afghanistan.
