The cost of healthcare services across Pakistan witnessed a significant increase in January, with medical tests, hospital fees, and medication prices rising further, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The latest data reveals that medical test fees increased by 5.36% in January alone, marking a year-on-year surge of 15.16%.

Similarly, clinic fees rose by 4.28%, while dental services became 2.22% more expensive in a month, showing a 26.16% increase over the past year.

Hospital charges also saw an uptick of 0.36% in January, with an overall annual increase of 13.09%.

The prices of medicines went up by 0.52% in a month, accumulating to a 17.48% hike over the past year.

Overall, healthcare costs in January increased by 1.27% compared to the previous month.
