Renowned actor Sonya Hussyn challenged the prevailing notion that complexion issues or nepotism are the sole reasons for rejection in the entertainment industry.
In a recent interview, the star offered advice to aspiring actors who are struggling to secure meaningful roles and establish a lasting presence in the showbiz industry.
She stressed that securing opportunities in the industry hinges primarily on an individual's mastery of their craft, rather than other factors.
“Many people make excuses that their complexion or lack of family connections hinder their ability to secure opportunities in the industry," the Ishq Zah e Naseeb actor added.
"That's simply not the case in this industry."
While she admitted that “some degree of favouritism exists,” she emphasised that individuals with exceptional talent and skill will ultimately overcome such obstacles and secure opportunities.
Instead of dwelling on the careers of others, Sonya advised focusing on personal growth and excellence to gain recognition and success.
Host Ushna Shah also echoed Sonya Hussayn's sentiments, acknowledging that at the outset of her career, she too had felt disappointed over the limited opportunities available to her.
However, over time, she realised that destiny also plays a part in determining one's career and opportunities can arise unexpectedly for those who are fortunate.
