Renowned singer Ali Sethi has sparked controversy by sharing a message in support of Pride Month, which is celebrated in June to promote LGBTQIA+ rights worldwide.
Sethi took to Instagram to share a message alongside a childhood picture, stating that the world often tries to overshadow one’s individuality and identity.
"Hi little one. I know it’s hard sometimes when they tell you not to be you, but the very thing that makes you different will become a source of tremendous beauty and power. Love awaits #happypride," his post read.
Ali Sethi's post sparked curiosity among his followers, with some offering him compassion and were surprised to learn that he identifies as non-binary.
"Did he just come out?" an Instagram user commented.
"No matter what, I will love you. Who are we to judge someone? I loved you because of 'Ishq' and 'Chadni Raatein,'' another fan commented.
This is not the first time controversy has surrounded Ali Sethi’s identity. In August 2023, rumours went viral suggesting that he had tied the knot with Pakistani-American painter Salman Toor.
The Rung singer later denied the rumours of his same-sex marriage in an Instagram story, stating that those spreading such speculation could help promote his new song "Paniya."
"I am not married. I don’t know who started the rumour, but they should help market my new release," he wrote.
