Legendary singer Arif Lohar’s latest iconic hit “Aa” received global acclaim after being featured on the official Instagram page of FIFA World Cup in a birthday tribute video for football star Lionel Messi.

Pakistani music and football aficionados were delighted to see a Punjabi song highlighting Messi’s prowess on his special day.

The Instagram post paid tribute to the 37-year-old footballer’s achievements, showcasing visuals from the 2022 World Cup victory, accompanied by an Urdu caption that read, “Messia ka Jaadu [the magic of Messi].”

The post was flooded with comments from Pakistanis expressing their joy at Messi being featured alongside Arif Lohar’s vocals.

“Wait, what? This was not the collab I was expecting,” a fan wrote in the comments.

Another social media user said, “FIFA is obsessed with Pakistani songs,” while someone suggested that Chahat Fateh Ali Khan’s “Bado Badi” should be played for Ronaldo’s birthday post.

Arif Lohar’s “Aa” was released recently in collaboration with rappers Roach Killa and Deep Jandu.

The song, featuring Lohar with his chimta, has garnered 101 million views on YouTube.

The inspiration for this hit came from a real-life anecdote when Lohar was recording a song in London and asked his son to bring a packet of chips for him.

When his son returned with chips, he playfully said, "Aa tenu chips khwawan [Come here, I’ll feed you chips]," which later evolved into the song.

Two years after the incident, his team suggested turning this catchy phrase into a song, leading to its massive success.
