Renowned singer Atif Aslam said he feels an even deeper sense of pride when he is recognised as a Pakistani abroad, adding that his nationality brings him immense love, even from neighbouring countries where he has one of his largest fan bases.

In a recent interview, Atif admitted that he sometimes regrets not giving legendary artists like Madam Noor Jehan and Mehdi Hassan the appreciation they truly deserved earlier in his career.

He emphasised that these icons hold an irreplaceable place in his heart and that he has met countless families, both in Pakistan and abroad, who deeply revere these musical legends, a level of respect he finds remarkable.

During the conversation, when the host asked about his experience singing in Bollywood, Atif shared that he worked extensively in India and always felt that his presence there represented Pakistan on an international stage.

He noted that only a few Pakistani artists had the opportunity to make their mark across the border, and he was proud to be recognised foremost as a Pakistani.

Atif added that even in America, nearly 60% of his concert audience consists of Indian listeners who continue to show him immense love despite political tensions.

Many Indian fans, he said, openly express admiration for his music and confess they feel confused and saddened by the hostility between the two nations.
