Animal rights activist Ayesha Chundrigar launched Pakistan's first anthem for animal rights on Friday, providing a voice to the voiceless creatures expressing their emotions amid society's mistreatment.
Titled "Hearts Beat the Same," the rap song was launched in collaboration with actor and philanthropist Sania Saeed, who crafted the insightful poetry.
Ayesha shared the rap on Instagram along with a detailed caption, delving into the song's background.
In her caption, the founder of Ayesha Chundrigar Foundation (ACF) Animal Shelter shared that she had conceived the idea for the song long ago.
"They finally get a voice," her caption read
However, lacking the knowledge of creating songs and the ability to write in Urdu, Ayesha faced challenges in bringing her vision to life.
“So one day a long long time ago in 2018, on a very delayed plane journey, my feet had gone to sleep but my mind came alive with the idea of writing a rap song," she noted.
“The lyrics had been sitting with me for ages. The problem was, I can’t write in Urdu & I have no idea about melody & I am most definitely NOT a singer,“ the philanthropist continued.
Ayesha went on to express her gratitude to Sania Saeed, who came to her help by crafting the poetry for the song. Subsequently, with the assistance of Music Producer Ali Allah Ditta, she connected with singers who lent their voices to create a remarkable rendition. This collaboration marked a historic moment as they successfully crafted Pakistan's first national anthem for animals.
Ayesha shared, “How was I to do this? Fast forward to 2023, & me yapping away to @thesaniasaeed about ideas I have & within minutes the poet inside her put pen to paper & she came up with words deeper & more beautiful than I could have dreamed & all I had to say was ‘hey ali I want to do a rap song’ & @ali_allahditta not just composed the whole melody but sang himself! Wow, what a voice! He brought us @itsthemoji who captured the anger of the animals to perfection through rap & a young talented star on the rise @hibahzehra living all the way in Minnesota, niece of @khumarraza used her insanely talented voice to capture the sadness in the chorus alongside Ali.”
Ayesha said that she is currently in the process of creating a music video for the anthem.
"I can’t wait to put a video together. Brewing in my head now as I type as I look for the perfect director for it. Because I know, we’re going to kill it."
