Bilal Qureshi wants actresses to 'adhere to limits' over bold clothing

Actor Bilal Qureshi expressed his disapproval of the fashion choices of some Pakistani actresses, suggesting that revealing clothing does not align with society’s traditional cultural norms.
In a recent statement, he requested that the actresses, “who are already very beautiful, refrain from wearing revealing clothing at events, as he believes it is unnecessary for them to do so.”
Bilal Qureshi stated that wearing bold clothes is not a part of our culture. He mentioned that he would not cite a religious example, as many people religiously disagree on the production of dramas, “it's not culturally acceptable for women to wear revealing clothes.”
The 'Munafiq' actor underscored the social responsibilities that celebrities bear, given their significant influence, particularly over teenagers and those with more impressionable minds. Consequently, he stressed the importance of ensuring that every action by showbiz actors reflects a positive influence.
“Why do our women wear bold clothes? It is not like that in our culture, then you say that women are not respected,” he asked.
Qureshi stated, "In my view, a good film and drama award function is one that I can watch with my sister and daughters."
While admittng to enjoying Bollywood movies and being avid fan of Shah Rukh Khan, he expressed discomfort during scenes containing vulgarity or obscenity, asserting that “Indian audiences share a similar sentiment about such content.”
Continuing his discussion, Bilal stressed the significance of understanding personal boundaries, sharing.that he and his family deliberately avoid such dressing. The actor extended his advice to women in the showbiz industry, urging them to embrace the “beauty of living within limits,” emphasising that “everything has its limits; nothing should be boundless.”
The ‘Bechari Qudsia’ actor emphasised that certain aspects are inherent to a person's identity from birth and cannot be detached. He said, “First, you are born a Muslim; second, you are born a Pakistani. You cannot take off these aspects of your personality from your profession or your life; you have to own them.”
Explaining the reason for exclusively praising actress Durefishan at the Lux Style Awards, the actor expressed his deep respect for all fellow actors in the showbiz industry. However, he clarified that the specific acknowledgment was attributed to her as “she graced the event in an exceptionally decent ensemble.”
