YouTube reveals 2023's most watched videos in Pakistan

Despite changing trends in how Pakistanis consume content, long-form videos also experienced a surge in popularity

Video streaming website YouTube revealed a list of the top content creators and videos that Pakistanis extensively watched in 2023. Pakistani dramas, daily vloggers, and local music secured spots on the charts of top videos.

According to YouTube, YouTube Shorts are viewed an average of more than 70 billion times per day globally. The number of channels uploading shorts on a daily basis increased by over 80% last year, and YouTube Shorts now accumulate 2 billion views monthly by logged-in users.

Despite changing trends in how Pakistanis consume content, long-form videos also experienced a surge in popularity indicating that both formats continue to reign supreme.

“The top trending lists of this year reflect the cultural evolution in Pakistan, notably marked by a substantial rise in Shorts viewership and distinct fan bases forming around specific content categories such as music, dramas, and vlogs,” Farhan Qureshi, Google Regional Director for Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, was quoted as saying in the press release.

“Moreover, creators are embracing multiformat approaches in order to explore new genres and audiences. Moving forward, we anticipate the ongoing expansion of multiformat content, resulting in a more varied and interesting range of content.”

The top trending videos featured the popular drama "Tere Bin," amassing 47 million views, and the viral Sindhi song ‘Hum Sindh Mein Rehne Waley Sindhi,’ which flooded our social media feeds in 2023, crossing 37 million views.

Nimra Mehra's song video was ranked second in the top trending category in Pakistan.

Among the top content creators, Zamzam Electronics, Ducky Bhai, Sistrology, and Ijaz Ansari Food Secrets secured spots on the list.

In 2023, Pakistanis tuned into Bollywood music, with Indian songs dominating the charts of the most-watched music videos. The lineup included "Tere Vaaste," "Kya Loge Tum," "Zihaal e Miskin," and Bilal Saeed’s "Udh Di Phiran" among the top music videos watched by Pakistanis.
