Inspired by a hard-hitting story of slain child activist Iqbal Masih, ‘Gunjal’ is set to arrive in theaters on December 15.
The announcement came through an Instagram post shared by both the film's producer Nighat Akbar Shah and the official Gunjal Instagram account.
The post featured a gripping film poster along with the release date.
Produced by Adur Productions, the crime thriller is inspired by true events as described in the post’s caption, “In a whirlwind of sentiments, we’re bringing you an emotional journey: Gunjal (Entangled) which is based on true events that follow journalist Shahbaz Bhatti’s journey as he investigates the murder of child activist Irfan Masih, who had bravely fought against the practice of child labour in 1990s Pakistan.”
The official trailer for ‘Gunjal’ was released on September 30. The much-anticipated film stars Ahmed Ali Akbar as journalist Shahbaz Bhatti, who investigates the murder of child activist Iqban Masih.
Iqbal Masih was a Pakistani Christian child labourer and activist who campaigned against abusive child labour in Pakistan. He was assassinated on 16 April 1995.
On March 23, 2022, he was posthumously awarded the Tamgha-e-Shujaat by the government of Pakistan.
