It's a Christian concept not to get a divorce until death: Maria B

Renowned fashion designer Maria B gave a “different point of view” over the increasing divorce rate in Pakistan.

She was invited as a guest to a podcast hosted by Hafiz Ahmed, where she discussed her personal and professional life, the idea behind her apparel brand, and her future projects.

During the interview, the host asked Maria her opinion on the increasing divorce rate in Pakistan.

“I’ll give you a very different point of view on this, she said and quoted the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Hadith.

“They have made divorce a Christian concept. It’s in Christians until you die, you can’t get [a] divorce. Until you die, you’re going to be with the same men. Why?” she asked.

Maria further said that she had witnessed so many toxic marriages which had spoiled the lives of the children. 

“I know two children of two families who argue with their parents that why they torture them by not getting a divorce,” she claimed to prove her opinion.

Maria also revealed that she also got separation from her husband, urging “don’t give a Christian twist to divorce”.

In response, the host shared controversial religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza’s stance on the topic.

“[…] I just conducted a podcast with Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza Sahab, he said that it’s better to get a divorce if the couple is having an understanding issue rather than parting ways in their 50s and 60s,” Hafiz Ahmed mentioned an anecdote.

“But, when I see children are affected mentally… I advise them to part ways. Please don’t do this to your kids,” she replied to the host.

However, she also slammed the alleged feminist concept of split-up due to the responsibilities of house chores. 

“Both extremes are wrong. Be in a centre and follow the path of Allah,” Maria concluded.
