The Rawalpindi police have dismissed a fraud case against Pakistani actor Javed Sheikh, and five others over jurisdiction issue.

According to Rawat police, the event happened in Karachi and the case was registered in Rawalpindi.

On June 6, following an order of an additional and session judge, the officials filed a case against Javed Sheikh, Jahanzeb Alam, Jamal Khan, Rana Zahid, Azhar Hussain, and Sameer Jadoon under section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The charges alleged that the accused deceived the couple into investing Rs5 million with a commitment to good return, but they failed to deliver the promised return.

The couple approached the court after the police initially refused to register their complaint, where complainant Amjad Mahmood claimed that the group made a promise that they would return seven percent monthly profit.

The plaintiff stated that when he asked for his money accused Alam and Khan threatened him and showed weapons as well.

Station House Officer Zulfiqar said that the police found that the transactions took place in Karachi, so the case could not fall in Rawat’s jurisdiction.

He added that the company committed fraud using Sheikh’s name while the actor was not involved in the scam.
