Renowned actor Mariyam Nafees expressed her opinion on polygamy, stating that few women would accept their husbands marrying again as most men cannot provide equal treatment to all their wives.

Mariyam recently appeared on a TV program where she was asked whether cricketer Shoaib Malik should consider a third marriage.

In response, she argued that a man can marry multiple times, but only by ending one marriage before entering another.

"Men cannot do justice to more than one wife," the 'Jaan-e-Jahan' actor said.

As host Ahmad Ali Butt mentioned that religion permits men to have multiple wives, Mariyam interjected, highlighting that Islam stresses fairness in relationships, something she believes men cannot maintain in multiple marriages simultaneously.

“I respect that Islam allows multiple marriages, but I personally think few women would be comfortable sharing their husband," she maintained.

The 'Tubelite' actor was asked how she would react if her husband ever considered a second marriage. She responded, "If my husband wants to marry again, I wouldn't forbid him, but I would request a separation."

Mariyam Nafees opined that if someone is truly unhappy, ending the first relationship and then remarrying could be an option.

However, she underscored the importance of maintaining fairness in relationships which is also acknowledged by religion.
