Renowned religious scholar Mufti Tariq Masood revealed that actress Humaima Malik expressed regret and 'repented to God' for a controversial dialogue she delivered in the 2011 film Bol, following his criticism.
In a recently surfaced video, the scholar shared that Humaima Malik personally reached out to him to express remorse over the line, attributing the wording to the film’s writer.
“An actress once delivered a line in a film saying to her father, ‘Jab khila nahi sakte to paida kyun karte ho’ [If you can't feed us, why do you give birth to us?]. The scene portrayed the father as poor, with his children, particularly the daughter, shown rebelling against him,” he recalled.
Mufti Tariq Masood said he had voiced concerns about this scene years ago, warning that such dialogues could foster rebellious behavior among children toward their parents. He stated that Humaima Malik recently contacted him after acquiring his number through Mufti Tariq Jameel, to express deep regret after watching his video commentary.
“She told me she repented sincerely to Allah after hearing my remarks,” he said. “I am sharing this with her permission.”

Quoting the actress, Mufti Tariq Masood further alleged that 'some NGOs may be behind the production or funding of such films to influence societal values.'
He praised Malik for acknowledging her mistake, stating, “I’m happy that an actress realised her mistake. Content like this can encourage young girls to rebel against their fathers.”
Bol, directed by Shoaib Mansoor, was released in 2011 and depicted the story of a conservative Muslim family. The plot centers around an authoritarian father who refuses to accept his transgender son and frequently mistreats his wife and daughters, ultimately leading to the family’s collapse.
