Renowned actress Nadia Jamil shared her thoughts on Sarah Khan’s opinion about feminism, ‘reminding’ her that empowered women have existed throughout history.

In a recent interview, Sarah Khan had shared that she is not feminist as, “I believe men have a designated place in society, and respecting that allows women to have peace as I don’t want to pay the bills by waiting in line.”

“I want to be treated the same way traditional women were treated. I prefer staying at home, like women used to in the old days,” she added,

The comments quickly went viral, sparking debate on social media. Where some supported Khan’s personal choice and traditionalist views, others criticised her perspective as coming from a position of privilege, disconnected from the realities many women face.

“I love the way he treats her:” fans adore Sarah Khan’s latest Instagram post

Responding to the statement, Nadia Jamil shared a counterpoint on X, saying, “Someone remind her of the legacy of Hazrat Khadijah (RA), Hazrat Ayesha (RA), Bibi Fatima (RA), Bibi Zainab (RA), Rabia of Basra, Razia Sultana, Noor Jehan, the Empress,” she wrote, referencing women who played powerful, independent roles in the past.

The comment also triggered social media users to share their views via comments, a social media user stated, "she is living easy and feminist life, but she thinks she is not a feminist.'

Another said, "it is feminism due to which she is able to work in media industry.'

The exchange fueled broader conversations about feminism, choice, and societal roles for women in Pakistan and beyond. Many netizens crticised that Sarah Khan doesn’t even have an idea of what feminism is.
