Netflix reveals release date for 'Squid Game' final season

Netflix has confirmed the release date for the third and final season of Squid Game, set to premiere on June 27.
The announcement was made during the streaming platform's Next on Netflix event on Thursday. Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the survival thriller became a global sensation when it debuted in 2021.
The upcoming season will conclude the gripping narrative, with protagonist Seong Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, seeking to end the deadly competition once and for all.
A teaser shown at the event hinted at more intense, high-stakes moments within the dystopian games, heightening fan anticipation.

The first season of Squid Game shattered streaming records, with Netflix reporting 142 million households watching the series in its first month, making it the platform’s most-watched original show at the time.
In addition to Squid Game, Netflix showcased other upcoming projects, including Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein, Ben Affleck’s RIP, and John Mulaney’s new late-night show.
The company also revealed a record addition of 19 million subscribers in Q4, bringing its global total to nearly 302 million. The final season of Squid Game is expected to be one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year.
