Netizens defend Khalil's daughter amid father's obscene video leak backlash

Netizens have come forward to defend Hijab Khalil, daughter of controversial writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, against online trolls targeting her after the writer's alleged obscene video went viral on social media.

The backlash against Hijab began after a scandal involving her father came to light on July 21.

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was recently abducted and robbed after being honey-trapped by a woman, named Amina Urooj.

As per the details provided by the writer in FIR, the controversial figure received a call from Amina, who invited him to her residence in Bahria Town to discuss a drama project.

The suspects withdrew Rs267,000 from the ATM after compelling Qamar to disclose his PIN. He was then forced into a car, subjected to physical torture, and abandoned in a deserted location.

Addressing a press conference later, the playwright revealed that doctors have advised him to avoid sunlight. For this reason, he met with the woman late at night.

A day earlier, the prime suspect in the case, Hasan Shah, along with his accomplice, was arrested by Peshawar Police.

Shah, earlier in an interview, alleged that he possesses "indecent videos" of Qamar, which he threatened to leak.

"I have videos of Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, one and a half to two hours long, where he can be seen under the influence of alcohol too," the suspect claimed.

"I also have inappropriate videos of him, which I wanted to leak earlier but stopped due to Muharram. Now, those videos will also come out," he added.

Shah alleged that Amina Urooj was "actually" in a relationship with the dramatist.

Later, the prime suspect leaked the alleged obscene video of the famous writer on social media.

Following the video's release, social media users began lashing out at Hijab, criticising her for her father's actions.

However, many netizens quickly came to her defense, arguing that she should not be held accountable for her father's alleged mistakes.

They praised Hijab for being a strong and independent individual and urged others to respect her privacy.
