The prominent Pakistani TV actress Sarah Khan sparked controversy on social media for sharing a reel on her Instagram, where she was seen donning a 'Christian Dior' scarf. This move left her fans disenchanted due to her seemingly ignorant action.
Pakistani celebrities often face unwarranted online criticism, but their occasional displays of surprising unawareness with certain topics also land them in hot water.
Recently, Sarah Khan took to Instagram to share a reel featuring her husband and daughter enjoying a vacation in the UK during the Christmas season.
However, little did she know that her reel contained a minor detail that holds significant meaning amid the ongoing world's biggest conflict in Palestine.
The 'Sabaat' actor was spotted flaunting a Christian Dior scarf, a choice that left her fans feeling disillusioned with their beloved celebrity.
Christian Dior is an international luxury house, which is included in the boycott list of brands funding the Israeli settler state, which is committing a genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
Bernard Arnault, the owner of Christian Dior’s parent company LVHM, invested in an Israeli cybersecurity firm in 2021.
Shortly after Sarah's post, her fans pointed out that she should not have worn the luxury brand's scarf.
The fact that common people can spot such obvious and meaningful details while our celebrities remain engrossed in their luxuries, completely detached from the outside world is embarrassing, to say the least.
One of Sarah’s fans commented, “You look amazing but you should not have worn a DIOR scarf..pls respect the fact that Muslims are boycotting it for the sake of Palestine."
The other critics expressed anger that if celebrities are so busy to not raise for Palestine then they can do bare minimum by boycotting foreign brands but they continue to appear in advertisements of international companies.
Few days ago, Hina Altaf faced backlash on social media for sharing a snapshot of a Starbucks cup on Instagram, amid ongoing calls for a boycott due to the brand's pro-Israel stance in the Gaza conflict.
