Pakistani actress Iffat Umar has spoken out against domestic violence after renowned anchorperson Ayesha Jahanzeb alleged she was physically assaulted by her husband.

The matter came to light a day earlier when the host's bruised photos went viral on social media.

Talking to a private news channel, Ayesha said that she has been subjected to domestic violence for almost six months.

"This happened outside my home by my husband Haris Ali and still I can't figure out why he had done this. I have been suffering at the hands of my husband, and I have serious injuries to prove it," the host told the news channel outside a police station.

"I have tried my best to save this relationship," she added.

When asked about the reason behind her husband's inhumane behaviour, Ayesha shared that her husband had secretly married another woman.

Later, several pictures emerged on social media in which torture marks were visible on Ayesha's face.

Reacting to the incident, Pakistani actress Iffat Umar said that domestic violence is "unacceptable" and urged the authorities to take strict action against the suspect.

"This man should be taken to task. I hope Ayesha now you understand why we go to Aurat March," she said in her Instagram story.

However, the TV anchor's husband was arrested by police and a first information report (FIR) was registered against him on the complaint of the victim.
