Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty recently shared an incident from 2001, describing it as one of the most challenging moments of his life.
The actor revealed that a Pakistani-origin hotel manager played a crucial role in helping him navigate a misunderstanding that led to his brief detention in the United States.
The incident took place in Los Angeles, where Shetty was filming for the movie Kaante in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
In a recent interview, he recounted how a simple miscommunication escalated into a serious situation.
Shetty explained that while returning to his hotel, he entered an elevator and realized he had forgotten his room key.
Turning to an American man inside, he casually asked, “Do you have a key? I forgot mine.” However, the man misunderstood the request, panicked, and quickly alerted the police.
Within minutes, armed officers surrounded Shetty, handcuffing him and forcing him to kneel. The actor was in shock as he struggled to comprehend the situation.
At this crucial moment, the hotel’s Pakistani manager intervened, identifying Shetty as a well-known Indian actor and clarifying the misunderstanding.
As a result, the police released Shetty without further action.
