Veteran actor and director Khaled Anam shared his latest poetry with a revolutionary theme, condemning systemic oppression and paying tribute to former prime minister Imran Khan by referring to him as “804,” the prison identification number assigned to him.
Khaled Anam is known for sharing thought-provoking poetry on pressing national issues, using his art to channel emotions and provoke reflection.
Recently, he took to Instagram to share his latest verses amid the unrest in Islamabad during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) protests, demanding the release of Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail.
In his poetry, Khaled Anam criticised the cruel use of force, suppression of truth, and the absence of genuine leadership committed to safeguarding the nation’s integrity.
He drew parallels between the current political unrest and the tragic circumstances surrounding the separation of East Pakistan, lamenting the lack of lessons learned from history.
Anam also highlighted the resilience of the oppressed in the face of an overpowering and unjust system.
In his concluding couplets, while refraining from explicitly naming Imran Khan, Anum praised him as “Sab par bhari 804” [804 is superior to all].
