Bollywood actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty's speech went viral on social media, in which he threatened Indian Muslims with death and violence, even suggesting throwing their corpses into a river.
Mithun Chakraborty was speaking at an event where he criticised Muslim leader Humayun Kabir of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for his remarks, in which Kabir stated, “You are 30 percent (Hindus), we are 70 percent (Muslims)... If you think you can harm mosques, we will drown you in the Bhagirathi.”
The actor-turned-politician targeted Humayun Kabir and issued threats toward the Muslim community of West Bengal, referencing the remarks made by the TMC leader.
“A leader says there are 70 percent Muslims and 30 percent Hindus, and that he will 'cut' and throw them into the Bhagirathi... I thought the Chief Minister (Mamata Banerjee) would respond. She didn't, so now I am saying, when our turn comes, we will not do that because the Bhagirathi is sacred to us. we will chop them up and bury them in the ground,” he said.
Chakraborty made these inflammatory comments in the presence of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, and assured Shah that “we will do anything to win the 2026 election.”
The former actor's remarks sparked outrage on social media for openly inciting violence against Muslims.
“IIndia is the only country in the world where you can become a successful politician by threatening to kill minorities. Ironically, it claims to be the world's largest democracy,” X user Jaspinder Kaur reacted to Chakraborty's speech.

Listening to Mithun Chakraborty speak and not surprised but still appalled at the kind of graphic violence that is threatened against Indian Muslims in the public sphere. The normalisation of these ideas and this rhetoric is the legacy of the last 35 years.

Has Mithun Chakraborty completely embraced the violent politics of @BJP4India as he threatens to 'chop' people up?

This is severely concerning as Home Minister @AmitShah openly endorses such concerning 'dialogues' while sharing the stage someone who issues death threats under… pic.twitter.com/It6u1JtmUL

Mithun Chakraborty has lost all my respect due to his vile hate speeches since joining BJP.
