Renowned actor Saheefa Jabbar Khattak asserted that women in villages are denied their rightful happiness by societal expectations and a lack of knowledge about their rights.

In a recent interview, Saheefa shed light on the difficulties women encounter in pursuing their own happiness and aspirations, which are frequently overshadowed by the demands of their family responsibilities.

She emphasised that a lack of education leads women to overlook their rights, stating, “A woman who lives in a village does not have knowledge of the world, of religion, and does not know how to read or write.”

Highlighting the burdens of responsibilities on women, the Beti actor explained that women in rural areas often have many children to care for, work on farms, and cook for their families.

She added that these “women have no dreams of their own and lack the knowledge even to raise their children properly,” or about anything beyond their immediate surroundings, which leads them to believe that their lives are content.

“Women in villages are happy with their lives because they lack awareness of their rights,” she noted.

Saheefa emphasised that if women have not personally experienced profound joy and fulfilment aside from the societal burden and due to lack of awareness, they are oblivious to true happiness.
