Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf worker Tahir Abbas, who was pushed off 25-foot containers by security personnel, has been missing for two days, according to his brother Naveed. Tahir's father has also been arrested along with other relatives.
Naveed shared a video on social media and called for the immediate release of his brother, 70-year-old father and other detained family members.
"They are interrogating family members about Naveed's whereabouts," he said, adding, "This is brutality" adding that his brother was "almost killed" and now his family is being "tortured."
He said that Tahir suffered a fractured arm.
Naveed pleaded with the authorities to release Tahira and other family members "for the sake of humanity."
The incident occurred during a PTI protest in Islamabad, where Tahir had climbed onto a container and was offering prayers when several security personnel approached. One of them pushed him off, causing him to fall to the ground and sustain severe injuries.
A video of the incident went viral and sparked outrage. Initially, Tahir was believed to have died, but a day later, a photo surfaced on social media confirming he was alive but injured.
The image showed Tahir lying on a bed with his hands heavily bandaged.
