44 students from Gaza have commenced their medical studies at Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU).
The students, previously enrolled at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, have relocated to Pakistan to pursue their education following Israeli aggression in Gaza after October 7.
The transfer was facilitated after Dr. Yousaf Al-Din, a prominent figure, appealed to Pakistani authorities to provide educational opportunities to these students.
According to sources, the Pakistani government, in collaboration with RMU, has ensured seamless integration of these students into the university's programs. The students will complete their medical studies at RMU, gaining valuable knowledge and skills.
This initiative underscores Pakistan's commitment to supporting education and humanitarian causes. It also highlights the country's strong ties with Palestine and its willingness to assist in times of need.
RMU Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Umar praised the government's efforts, stating, "We are proud to welcome these talented students and provide them with quality education."
The ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of approximately 12,000 Palestinian students since October 7, 2023.
According to a report by Al Jazeera, citing Gaza's Ministry of Education, the conflict has claimed the lives of 11,852 students and left over 18,000 injured.
