The Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Nazir Mohamed Ayad, has announced the establishment of a campus of Al-Azhar University in Pakistan.

In a meeting with Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Dr. Ayad emphasized the significance of learning the Arabic language to grasp the authentic teachings of Islam.

He highlighted that Al-Azhar University is a strong advocate for women's education and aims to promote both Islamic teachings and Arabic culture, thereby fostering closer ties between the two nations.

Dr. Siddiqui remarked on the deep Islamic and cultural connections between Egypt and Pakistan, noting that both countries boast some of the oldest civilizations in the world.

He expressed the importance of Al-Azhar University for the entire Islamic community and shared his aspiration to visit this esteemed center of Islamic education.

While discussing the forthcoming International Girls Conference in Pakistan, scheduled for January 11-12, he expressed pride in the initiatives undertaken by Islamic nations to advance girls' education.

He clarified that the notion that Islam prohibits women's education is a misconception, asserting that Islam advocates for the education of both men and women.

Dr. Siddiqui stated that the Pakistani government prioritizes equal educational opportunities for women, ensuring they have the same access as men.

He urged for enhanced collaboration between Egypt and Pakistan in promoting girls' education, asserting that an educated woman contributes to a progressive and cultured society, which in turn nurtures future generations in accordance with the true teachings of Islam.

Dr. Nazir Ayad expressed gratitude to the federal minister for his warm reception and noted that over 40 percent of Al-Azhar University's student body comprises female students.

He further suggested that Pakistan should send scholars to Egypt to benefit from its educational experiences and teachings.
