The Bhutto family's youngest member, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, has embarked on her political journey by submitting her nomination papers for the NA-207 Nawabshah seat in an upcoming by-election.
This seat became vacant after her father, Asif Ali Zardari, assumed the role of the 14th President of Pakistan.
Aseefa's entry into electoral politics marks a significant milestone as she steps forward to represent her constituency. Welcomed by a large gathering of supporters and party members, her nomination signifies a new chapter in her public service.
Born into a prominent political dynasty on February 3, 1993, in London, Aseefa has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to public health and emerged as a dynamic political figure.
Her early years were underscored by a pivotal moment when, as an infant, she became the first child in Pakistan to receive the polio vaccine, highlighting her family's dedication to healthcare initiatives.
Educated at Oxford Brookes University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in politics and sociology, and later at University College London, where she attained a master's degree in global health and development, Aseefa has cultivated a strong foundation for her advocacy work.
In 2012, she was appointed Pakistan's goodwill ambassador for polio eradication, leveraging her influence to lead campaigns and engage with communities affected by the disease.
Aseefa gained national recognition as the youngest Pakistani to address the esteemed Oxford Union at the age of 21, showcasing her eloquence and vision for her nation's future.
Transitioning into active politics, she made her debut at a rally in Multan in 2020, although her journey has not been without challenges, as evidenced by minor injuries sustained during a PPP procession in 2022.
With Asif Ali Zardari assuming the presidency in 2024, Aseefa was formally recognized as the First Lady of Pakistan, thereby becoming the first daughter of a president to hold this prestigious title. This new role signifies a continuation of her family's legacy and her commitment to serving the people of Pakistan.
