ATC grants bail to Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha amid legal fight

Islamabad ATC granted post‑arrest bail to Imaan Mazari and her husband, Hadi Ali Chattha, in a case of being involved in an alleged argument with law enforcement officials and a public protest.

Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain approved the bail applications, allowing Iman and Hadi to secure release on surety bonds of Rs 10,000 each. 

Defense lawyers argued that the charges were based on fabricated allegations, saying the incident cited in the FIR had no factual evidence.

Despite the bail order, the couple will remain in custody due to their convictions in another case related to controversial social media posts. 

In another development, the IHC issued notices on appeals filed by the Iman and Hadi, challenging those sentences, and also sought responses from the NCCIA on their applications seeking suspension of the sentences. 

Lawyers for Mazari and Chattha argued that procedural irregularities in the trials, including evidence recorded in their absence, violated their right to a fair trial.

The court then adjourned the further hearing of the case till another date.
