Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has said that Barrister Gohar Ali Khan lost the coveted post of chairmanship of the party due to his "incompetence and poor performance".
Talking to a private news channel, Marwat acknowledged Gohar’s loyalty to the party and admitted that he is a good person, but he "failed to deliver a satisfactory performance as party head".
“He has lost the party’s chairmanship due to the bad performance and incompetence,” said Marwat, adding that you have to be active to run the party office, but Gohar couldn’t do this.
“Barrister Gohar has not appeared successful during his three-month tenure, as workers were wanting him to call a protest against alleged rigging in elections but he remained unsuccessful,” Imran Khan's lawyer added.
53-year-old PTI leader believed that Gohar should lead the party after the elections, but he was unable to fulfil the expectations of the workers.
It is pertinent to mention that a few months ago, the party had conducted the intra-party polls and nominated Gohar as PTI chairman.
But, the Election Commission of Pakistan declared the former ruling party's intra-party polls null and void. However, Gohar continued working as an acting chairman in absence of Imran Khan.
A day earlier, PTI announced holding internal elections again, nominating Barrister Ali Zafar as next chairman.
