The Punjab government has revoked the recent fare increase for double-decker sightseeing buses in Lahore following directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

The fare hike, implemented by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP), had raised prices by Rs200 to Rs500 for regular routes and between Rs5,000 to Rs20,000 for corporate, educational, and commercial bookings. However, the government swiftly reversed the decision after public disapproval.

Expressing her dissatisfaction, CM Maryam Nawaz directed authorities to reinstate the previous fare structure, emphasising that the service was introduced to boost tourism and should remain affordable for the public.

"The double-decker bus service aims to promote tourism in Lahore, and increasing fares would burden the public unnecessarily," she stated, reaffirming her commitment to providing accessible recreational facilities.

With the fare reversal, the Punjab government aims to ensure that tourism-friendly initiatives remain within reach of the general public while enhancing Lahore’s appeal as a cultural destination.
