CM Maryam to give 20,000 e-bikes to students on easy installments

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday announced to provide 20,000 electric bikes to students on easy installments.
The project was approved by the first female CM Punjab during the third meeting of the provincial cabinet.
"Electric bikes are essential to reduce environmental pollution but are currently not suitable due to battery theft in the province and low mileage," CM Maryam said in the meeting.
Nawaz Sharif's daughter also decided to give petrol bikes along with e-bikes to students on easy installment.
CM Maryam has ordered to reduce the down payment for e-bikes to Rs25,000.
"The monthly installment will also be less than Rs5,000," said Maryam adding that the distribution of bikes would start from May 2024.
The bikes would be given to those students who use public transport to commute for their studies.
"A separate scheme will be introduced to give e-bikes to students who have achieved high marks in examinations," she announced.
The initiative for students was announced at the request of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, which he made earlier in a meeting of the Punjab government.
