A huge fire erupted at a factory in the export processing zone in Landhi late Friday evening.
According to reports, the fire began around 9:00 p.m. at a plastic manufacturing plant, which quickly intensified and was officially declared a third-degree fire.
10 fire tenders and snorkel units swiftly reached the scene to tackle the huge blaze. Initial reports indicate that the fire had already affected two factories, but authorities successfully managed to protect a third factory under threat. Efforts were focused on containing the fire, cutting off fuel sources and protecting nearby factories from catching the blaze.
IG Sindh, Javed Alam, ordered senior officials to seal the area and clear traffic points so emergency vehicles could commute without hindrance. Water bowsers and additional resources were mobilized to ensure uninterrupted supply to firefighting teams.
Officials have confirmed that the fire has been doused and no casualties have been reported from the incident. An inquiry has been initiated to determine the cause of the fire.
