As 2023 draws to a close, Google has unveiled the year’s top trending searches. This time, Google has released a list of eight categories related to Pakistan, spanning sports, events, news, movies and TV shows, personalities, cooking recipes, and technology.
In Pakistan, the most searched category under ‘People’ features Hareem Shah at the top, followed by TikToker Aliza Sehar.
The top searches then include Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, Abdullah Shafique, Usman Khan, and Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar.
Cricketers appear to be the primary focus in the people’s category for Pakistanis, with Glenn Maxwell, Shubman Gill, and Haseebullah Khan ranking among the top 10 searches this year.
The war in Israel and Gaza took the top spot as the most searched news topic, followed by the Ehsaas Program and TikToker Aliza Sehar.
Interestingly, according to Google's rankings for the most searched movies, dramas, and TV shows in Pakistan, there were no local productions on the list this year.
Hollywood's "Oppenheimer" claimed the top spot as the most searched movie in Pakistan, accompanied by searches for "Barbie," "John Wick," and "Extraction 2."
Pakistanis' fascination with Bollywood remains strong, which is evident in the most searched movies in Pakistan, including Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Jawan,’ ‘Pathan,’ Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Farzi,’ Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger 3,’ and Sunny Deol’s 'Gadar 2.'
In the "How to" category, Pakistanis primarily sought guidance on "how to create a WhatsApp channel?" and "how to apply for Canada visa?"
Interestingly, amidst various global searches in the "Hum to Search" category, only one Pakistani item made the list. Ali Sethi and Shae Gill’s hit track ‘Pasoori,’ securing the eighth spot globally.
