The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has announced the results of the Secondary School Certificate SSC Part II (Matric) - Science group (Regular) for the year 2024.
After a 28-year drought, a government school student has secured the top spot in the matriculation exams.
Hafiz Abdul Rafi, a student of Delhi Government Boys Secondary School Karimabad, achieved this remarkable feat with an impressive 94.55 percent marks.
Romaisa Imran from Shamsi Society Private School and Rukhsar Abdullah from North Nazimabad Private School followed closely, taking second and third positions respectively.
Romaisa scored 94.27 percent while Rukhsar secured 93.18 percent, according to a notification issued by the board.
The achievement is particularly significant as the last time a government school student topped the matriculation exams was in 1996, when Imtiaz from Delhi Government Boys School claimed the top spot.
According to BSEK, this year 163,012 candidates were registered for the exams, with 162,026 appearing and 131,614 successfully clearing all papers. The overall success ratio stood at 81.23 percent.
