The Karachi traffic police on Saturday issued a traffic diversion plan for the processions scheduled to be taken out on Muharram 8, 9 and 10 in the port city.

As per the announced traffic control strategy, people, who live around the procession areas, must carry national identity cards with them.

As per the traffic plan, the main processions on three days of Muharram, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, will commence from Nishtar Park and culminate at the Hussainian Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.

In light of the procession, MA Jinnah Road will be closed off from Guru Mandir to the Tower, except for those who have tickets.

LEAs and media vehicles will be permitted to enter the procession.

According to the plan, commuters can go to Soldier Bazar from Bahadur Yar Jang Road during processions.

Citizens from Nazimabad can reach their destination via Nishtar Road and Garden from Lasbela Chowk.

Traffic from Nazimabad would be diverted to Jail Road via Teen Hatti, and traffic from Hassan Square to People’s Chowrangi would continue via Kashmir Road.

People can use Jail Flyover to reach Hassan Square from Teen Hatti. Citizens from Sharah-e-Faisal to Shahrah-e-Qauideen, and Numaish can take Kashmir Road through the Society Light Signal.

Moreover, commuters from Garden to MA Jinnah Road would go via Anklesaria Hospital to Gulplaza and Coastguard.

On the other hand, the Sindh government imposed Section 144 across the province to ensure security during the processions.

Pillion riding has also been banned on Muharram 9 and 10 in the metropolis.

The Interior Ministry also approved the deployment of military and frontier corps personnel to provide security during Ashura processions.
